Woman jailed for sex assault on girls
Dublin District Court:A Chinese holidaymaker who sexually assaulted two 12-year-old girls in a cinema in Tallaght two months ago has been sentenced to three months in jail by Dublin District Court.
Judge Anthony Halpin backdated Yan Yuet Ching’s sentence to October 9th last, the date of the alleged offence.
He placed her on the sex offenders register for the next seven years.
When Judge Halpin found the woman guilty, the mother of one of the girls gasped “yes” from the public gallery.
Yan (42), with an address at Killery Terrace, Upper Dargle Road, Bray, had pleaded not guilty to two charges of sexually assaulting the girls and to two counts of assaulting the girls at the IMC Cinema, The Square, Tallaght, on October 9th last.
The two victims gave their evidence to the court by video link.
The first girl recounted how Yan told them they were beautiful and asked if she could take their photographs. She said no.
Yan told the court she thought she had been trying to comfort one of the girls when they ran away and, in doing so, pulled her hair.
Judge Halpin convicted Yan on the two sexual assaults and dismissed the two common assaults.
