Woman held over city centre attack
Gardaí were last night questioning a woman about an attack on another woman in Dublin city centre last weekend in which a large section of the victim’s nose was bitten off.
The 23-year-old injured woman from Blanchardstown has since undergone corrective surgery in which cartilage and skin was taken from other parts of her body in an effort to rebuild the missing part of her nose.
The incident occurred on the street close to Tara Street train station on George’s Quay in the south inner city at about 2.30am last Sunday.
The victim and her alleged attacker had earlier exchanged words in a nearby pub.
The female suspect was arrested at her home in Ongar, west Dublin, yesterday morning. She was taken to Pearse Street Garda station in the city centre.
The 21-year-old was still being detained last night under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
She can be detained for up to 24 hours without charge.
