FOUR young people who travelled in a £250 "death trap car" were irresponsible and took a risk of breath taking proportions, a judge said yesterday. In the High Court in Cork, Ms Stephanie Kidney, from Aldergrove, Belgooly, was awarded £28,396 against her former boyfriend, Mr Malcolm Barry, from Maulbawn Estate, Carrigaline, and Mr Desmond Crowley, from Glenwood, Carrigaline. Mr Justice Kelly dismissed her claim against the Motor Insurance Bureau because he said she was aware the car was uninsured when she travelled in it. He said neither the owner, Mr Barry, nor the driver, Mr Crowley, had driving licences or insurance on the day of the accident on July 31st, 1991, when the car went out of control and struck a telegraph pole, injuring Ms Kidney who was a back seat passenger.
