A bar manager who witnessed the attack on a Ballymoney RUC man, Constable Greg Taylor, claimed yesterday that detectives tried to get him to implicate three of the eight men on trial for murder.

Mr Carson Shaw claimed detectives accused him of being a "lying bastard" and told him that he had seen three of the accused The claims by the manager of Kelly's Bar came as he was being cross-examined by defence lawyers for the eight Co Antrim men who deny murdering the policeman on June 1st last year.

He claimed that later the detectives tried to pressurise him to say he had "actually seen" three of the accused jumping up and down on the policeman. Mr Shaw said he refused to change his statements. The trial continues today.
