BRITAIN: The 25th Brit Awards held last night saw Robbie Williams winning the gong for the Best Song of the past 25 years.

Some of the biggest stars of the showbiz world turned up for the awards, hosted by presenter Chris Evans at London's Earls Court.

Williams' Angels beat songs by Will Young, Queen, Kate Bush and Joy Division in a vote by BBC Radio 2 listeners.

Glasgow band Franz Ferdinand were won the Best British Rock category while Keane won Best British Breakthrough Act.

New York disco rockers the Scissor Sisters beat Jet Kanye West, Killers and Maroon 5 to the award for International Breakthrough Act.

Muse won Best British Live Act, Will Young won in the British Single category for Your Game and Gwen Stefani won the award for International Female Solo Artist.

There were performances by Franz Ferdinand and Mike Skinner and the Scissor Sisters.- PA
