A woman has withdrawn a charge of assault against her husband. Mr Laurence Maughan (49), of Bawnogue Campsite, Clondalkin, Dublin, appeared in Kilmainham District Court charged with assaulting his wife, Winnie, at Orchard Road on Tuesday night.
Garda Maurice Cunningham said she had been taken from Clondalkin Garda Station to hospital where she was treated for stab wounds. Garda Cunningham said Mr Maughan was already on High Court bail for assaulting his wife with an iron bar, but Mrs Maughan told the court she wanted to withdraw the assault charge.
Mr Maughan was remanded to September 11th on a charge of violent behaviour in Clondalkin Garda station.
