An inquest hearing into the death of a Dublin drug-dealer, Gerard Lee, was adjourned yesterday after his wife refused to stand over her statement to the Coroner's Court.

Mr Lee (31), from Seabury Park, Malahide, was shot dead in March 1996 at a house party in Ferrycarrig Park, Coolock. He was a close associate of a leading Dublin criminal, according to gardai, and was believed to have been involved in financing drug dealing in Coolock. When called to give evidence in Dublin City Coroner's Court, Mrs Linda Lee refused to verify her deposition.

"The alleged statements that the gardai have were dictated statements and I would not be prepared to verify them on oath," she told the court.

Mrs Lee handed a typed statement to Dublin City Coroner, Dr Brian Farrell. "That's my statement," she said.
