Ambulance staff in Wexford are to withdraw on-call emergency services from today.

In the latest dispute to affect the health service, SIPTU said it had informed the South Eastern Health Board (SEHB) that ambulance staff from Gorey, Enniscorthy and New Ross will not be responding to after-hours emergency calls.

In response to the Wexford stoppage, the South Eastern Health Board said it had enlisted the help of the Defence Forces Medical Corps to maintain the service.
