The bad news is that all tickets for special trains to the Dublin/Kerry replay in Thurles tomorrow are sold out. So are the special trains laid on for the Tipperary/Wexford hurling match at Croke Park on Sunday.

Iarnrod Eireann is advising would-be customers that there will be "no additional capacity available", i.e. no more extra trains in either case.

The company has expressed regret at this and said it was because of "our requirement to provide all of our regular services at this busy time of year. Every available carriage in our fleet will be in service on Saturday."

To assist with traffic to Thurles tomorrow, gardai will be on duty on all major roads leading to the town. Traffic lights through Kildare and Monasterevin will be off.

To encourage people to arrive early, turnstiles at Semple Stadium in Thurles will open at noon. People who are early can see the All-Ireland intermediate hurling semi-final between Kerry and Carlow, which will begin at 1.30 p.m.

To complicate traffic problems in the area, further delays are expected on the R503 Thurles to Newport/Limerick main road from early this evening because of a Shane McGowan concert at the Ned o'the Hill Festival in Upper church, Thurles.

There will be traffic restrictions at Pendy's Cross, Upper church. Supervised parking will be available near the R503 road there. Traffic problems are also expected there tomorrow when the festival's Special Children's Event takes place.

Dublin Airport:

Dublin Airport will also have a very busy weekend. Almost 213,000 passengers are expected to pass through it between today and Sunday night, with more than 350 charter holiday flights in addition to the normal schedule.

Intending travellers who wish to park their cars for more than 24 hours are advised to use the long-term blue car park, which can be accessed using exit 4 off the M50 at the Ballymun interchange.

Road Deaths

Five people were killed on our roads from August 2nd up to yesterday. It brings to 231 the total killed on the roads so far this year.
