Five separate road crashes in the Republic and Northern Ireland have claimed the lives of seven people already this weekend.

In Dublin, two people died following a collision between a car and a truck on the N2 Finglas to Ashbourne Road at Ward's Cross at 9am yesterday morning.

Daire Maxwell (16) of Reask, Dunshaughlin, Co Meath who was a passenger in the truck and Donna Beresford (39) of Kippure Park, Finglas, who was driving the car both died in the crash.

The driver of the truck was taken to James Connolly Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

In the North, a man died in a road accident in Co Derry. The accident happened on the Seacoast Road near Limavady, just before midday yesterday.

In Co Down, another man was killed following an crash on the Ballyvally Road in Mayobridge. The single-vehicle incident happened early yesterday morning.

Yesterday afternoon a couple on a motorcycle died after a collision with two cars on the Portstewart Road, near Coleraine.

And another motorcyclist was killed in Tipperary at around 7.30pm when his motorbike was in collision with a car.
