Warning over UK lottery scam

Consumers have been warned about a fresh wave of UK lottery scams.

The Consumers' Association of Ireland has advised people to be wary of e-mail and text messages claiming that the recipient has won a prize in the UK lottery.

Anyone who receives such a message is advised never to disclose any personal information, never to click on links in such e-mails and never to call any number given in an e-mail, as this will probably lead to a highly expensive premium rate line.
