Gardai have issued a warning to parents and children to beware of a child abductor following an incident in Limerick city. A man tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car, but she fled.
The incident took place on Tuesday of last week as the girl walked home from the Crescent Shopping Centre in the city. The man is described as being in his 20s with dark curly hair and a goatee beard and moustache.
Gardai said a man matching that description also approached a woman the previous day looking for directions. He was driving a dirty, navy-coloured car. According to a Garda spokesman at Roxboro, he may have approached other young girls.
The spokesman appealed to anyone who was approached by this individual over Christmas to contact the gardai.
