Dublin - The Department of Foreign Affairs has warned against travel to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Republika Srpska and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, in the light of air strikes. It has also urged Irish citizens in these states to leave.

The Department urged Irish citizens to be cautious about travelling to Albania, and in particular to avoid travelling to the north of the country.

Meanwhile, the Green Party has warned that bombing targets in Serbia will only exacerbate difficulties in the Kosovo region.

Its foreign affairs spokesman, Mr John Gormley, said that the main obstacle to a peace deal was President Milosevic's objection to a NATO-led peacekeeping force. "The obvious solution to this is to draw the peacekeeping force from other more neutral states and for it to be under a UN command," he said.
