Northern Ireland electricity company Viridian said its results for the six months to September will be in line with expectations.

It also said the figures would include an exceptional gain from the £122.5 million sterling sale of the Moyle Interconnector in April.

In a trading update, the company said availability has been high at its Huntstown generating station near Dublin and that the station's output has contracted in the competitive market in the Republic.

The company said it was looking at a second Combined Cycle Gas Turbine at the Huntstown site, under the terms of the competition for new generation capacity initiated by the Commission for Energy Regulation.
