A 22 year old west Cork man was drowned yesterday when he went swimming off the pier at Castletownbere. Gardai said Mr Brian O'Connor, of St Martin's Avenue, Castletownbere, dived off the pier at about 9 a.m. yesterday and got into difficulties.
A Co Mayo man died from injuries received when his car was in collision with another vehicle near Roundfort on Wednesday evening. He was Shane Heaney (21), of Hollymount Post Office.
