Celtic defender Joos Valgaeren is set to miss the Champions League qualifier against MTK Hungaria - but his injury is not as serious as first feared.

The Belgian limped off during Saturday's Bank of Scotland Premier League win over Partick after complaining of tightness in his hamstring, sparking fears of a defensive crisis.

The Hoops are already without Johan Mjallby, who is two weeks into a six-week lay-off with a recurrence of a knee injury. Valgaeren is rated doubtful for Wednesday's game - which is all but a formality for Celtic anyway following their 4-0 away win in the first leg.

He should be back in contention for Saturday's league game against Livingston. Also doubtful for Wednesday's clash at Parkhead is Momo Sylla, who suffered an ankle injury at Firhill at the weekend.
