Havana - Governor George Ryan of Illinois yesterday met a group of dissidents, human rights activists and independent journalists in Cuba, on the third day of his landmark visit to the island.

Mr Ryan, the first US governor to visit Cuba since President Fidel Castro took power 40 years ago, began a five-day visit on Saturday. He said he came to build a bridge between Cuban and American people.
