A US company wanting a tyre production facility in Europe has visited the Semperit plant in Ballyfermot which is due to close in December.
The IDA and the Minister for Enterprise and Employment, Mr Bruton, have met representatives of the company, the Minister of State to the Government, Mr Pat Rabbitte, said. However, the company regarded Irish costs as high and was not interested in acquiring the Ballyfermot plant as a going concern.
