A US diplomat has been killed in a mortar attack near the Baghdad airport. US Secretary of State Colin Powell announced the death in a statement to the press.
"I mourn the loss of one of our own today in Baghdad. Assistant Regional Security Officer Ed Seitz ... was a brave American, dedicated to his country," Powell said in the statement issued while he was flying to China from Japan.
