Up to 40,000 runners took to the streets today for the 23rd Women’s Mini Marathon.

Up to 40,000 runners took to the streets today for the 23rd Women’s Mini Marathon.

Sonia O'Sullivan won the event in a time of 33 minutes and 7 seconds.

The 10km race started on Merrion Square at 3pm and is expected to finish after 6.30pm.

The new finishing point is at Earlsfort Terrace to avoid taking runners into the Luas terminus.

The route takes them from St Stephen’s Green as far as the Stillorgan Road and back again.

Motorists are advised that a number of traffic diversions are in place along the route.
