CAIRO - President Hosni Mubarak condemned Israel's two week old Grapes of Wrath operation in Lebanon as "an unjustifiable sin" yesterday.

"Whatever the justification that could be evoked, this war being waged by Israel against the Lebanese people is an unjustifiable and intolerable sin", he said in a speech to mark the 14th anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from the Sinai.

"It is a violation of the rules of conduct that all parties involved in making peace must respect", said Mr Mubarak, referring to the anti terrorism summit in Egypt on March 13th, which was dubbed "Summit of Peacemakers".

"The Egyptian people and government are firmly behind Lebanon against this new Israeli invasion", he said.
