There was a breakthrough in a Fáilte Ireland industrial dispute yesterday when management and union representatives agreed to study a deal brokered through the Labour Relations Commission.

Siptu officials will recommend the proposals to their members when they meet this morning to ballot on the issue.

Staff have been picketing at Fáilte Ireland's Baggot Street and Pembroke Row offices in Dublin for more than a week in a row over their relocation to Amiens Street.

The dispute developed after the tourism agency closed the Pembroke Row office on Friday, January 12th, to relocate marketing staff to Amiens Street on the following Monday. Some staff in the Baggot Street office were also due to relocate.

While agreeing to the relocation, Siptu had raised concerns about aspects of the move, and said these issues had not been resolved when the company closed the Pembroke Row office.

The union was seeking progress on issues such as flexi-time, work space and health and safety.

About 75 Siptu members have been taking part in the picket. Fáilte Ireland employs about 180 staff between the three offices.

A small number of members of the National Union of Journalists moved to Amiens Street "under protest".
