Two youths injured in Coolock gun attack

Two youths were injured in a gun attack in Coolock in the early hours of this morning.

Two youths were injured in a gun attack in Coolock in the early hours of this morning.

A Garda spokesperson said a 17 year-old male was shot when the occupants of a black BMW car approached him on  Priorswood Road, Dublin 17 at shortly after 1.00 am.

The victim was shot at a number of times and fled on foot in the direction of a local public house.

The car drove after him and another 17 year-old who was standing outside the pub was struck by the car.  The car then drove at speed from the scene.

Both men were removed by ambulance to Beaumont hospital.  One man was suffering from what appears to be a gunshot wound to the torso, he remains in hospital and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening the other received leg injuries in the incident.

A black BMW was later found at Baldoyle industrial estate and is being preserved for technical examination.  The area where the shooting took place will also be technical examined.  Coolock Gardaí information.
