GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the murder of a suspected drugs trafficker in a gangland shooting in Dublin’s south inner city last week were questioning two men last night.

The two, both in their 20s, were arrested in Dublin city centre yesterday morning and questioned about the murder of John Carroll (33). Mr Carroll was shot dead in Grumpy Jack’s pub in the Coombe area of Dublin 8 on Wednesday night last week.

They two men are being held under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act at Kilmainham and Kevin Street Garda stations. They can be held for up to 72 hours.

A third man (55) was questioned before being released on Wednesday night, a Garda spokesman said. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
