A staff member and a 14-year-old youth from a Dublin detention centre for juveniles were killed last night after the car they were travelling in was involved in a collision in Finglas.
The man was accompanying three teenagers from St Laurence's detention centre in Finglas when the collision with a van occurred at Ward's Cross on North Road. The staff member and youth were treated in hospital for their injuries but they died later. The other youths were discharged after treatment for minor injuries and returned to the detention centre. The van driver was not injured.
