Police in the North are investigating gun attacks in which two men were shot in the legs in separate incidents overnight.

A 15-year-old youth was shot in the leg at 7.30 p.m. yesterday at Mervue Street in north Belfast.

In Bangor, Co Down, a man was shot in the leg at Ballynoe Gardens.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was found unconscious with head injuries early this morning in Lisburn, Co Antrim .

Police were also investigating reports of shots being fired during more overnight trouble in north Belfast.

The shots are said to have been fired and a gunman seen on the street after homes and cars were attacked in the Cliftondene area.

Several homes had windows smashed and houses and cars had paint thrown over them.

The attacks came after loyalist flags erected in the area earlier in the week were removed.
