A man (37) and woman (35) have appeared in court charged with the murder of a man whose body was recovered from the River Bandon in west Cork last year.

Ciprian Grozavu, a Romanian national, and Catherine O’Connor, a native of Kinsale in Co Cork, had already been charged with the murder of 27-year-old Jonathan Duke at Bandon Bridge on November 13th last.

They were brought before Bandon District Court this afternoon where they were charged with the murder of 43-year-old Englishman John Forrester at Bandon Bridge, Bandon on November 13th.

Inspector Brendan Fogerty said the books of evidence in both investigations were well advanced and would be served shortly on both accused as one book of evidence.

He applied to have both accused remanded in custody on the Forrester murder charge to appear at Limerick District Court next Friday and he applied to have both accused remanded in tandem on the Duke murder charge on same date.

Judge James McNulty granted the application and remanded both in custody on the Forrester murder charge to Limerick District Court next Friday.

He remanded Mr Grozavu in custody on the Duke murder charge, and Ms O’Connor in custody with consent to bail on the Duke murder charge.
