Two held over Dublin double murder

A man and a woman have been arrested in the investigation of a double murder in south west Dublin last month.

A man and a woman have been arrested in the investigation of a double murder in south west Dublin last month.

Brian Downes (40) from Tallaght and Eddie Ward (24) from Clondalkin, were shot dead at Mr Downes's mother's home in Walkinstown on October 5 th.

Gardaí investigating the gun attack was elaborately planned and carried out by an experienced gunman.

Gardaí believe Mr Downes, who was questioned over the vehicle used in gang-style murder in 2005 was the target of the gun attack. They believe Mr Ward was caught up in the attack when the killer struck.

Gardai this evening said the pair that were arrested are being held at Crumlin and Sundrive Road Garda stations under the Offences against the State Act.
