Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Dean Johnson in Clondalkin, Dublin, last May.
The men, aged 33 and 26, were arrested in Dublin this morning and are being held at Lucan and Ronanstown Garda Stations under Section 50 of The Criminal Justice Act.
They are the first people to be arrested in the case
Dean Johnson (20) died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and head in the attack.
At least four shots were fired at Johnson, who had been sitting in the back seat of a red Volkswagen Golf being driven by a young woman on Moorfield Avenue.
Johnson lived nearby with his parents and younger brother. His mother is believed to have been among a number of local people who rushed to the scene after hearing the shots being fired.
He was taken to Tallaght hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Johnson was known to gardai and had been convicted of possession of a large quantity of ecstasy tablets with an estimated street value of €30,000 in 2008. However, gardai do not believe he was a major player on the drugs scene.
