THE 10-year-old boy recently confronted in court by eight gardai has been sent to a detention centre for 12 months. When he appeared in the Dublin Juvenile Court this time, there were two gardai.
In the hearing before Judge Finn, the boy was ordered to be detained in St Laurence's Special School, Finglas, for a year, after he pleaded guilty to eight charges of trespassing on the railway at Ballybough, allowing himself to be carried in a stolen car, stealing petrol, stealing a handbag and malicious damage to a car. The 12-month sentence is to be reviewed in three months.
