Two men have appeared at Athlone District Court today charged in connection with the hijack of a taxi in January of last year.
The taxi driver picked up two men at about 2.15 am on January 12th in Mullingar, he was subsequently seriously assaulted and thrown from the taxi.
The two men drove off in the car in the direction of Castlepollard.
As part of the Garda investigation into the incident the two men one aged 26 and the other 33 years were charged.
