An 81-year-old man has been killed in a car crash near Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan this afternoon.
The man was the driver of one of two cars that collided at Knocknacrann East, Magheracloone at 3.00 p.m. His body was removed to Cavan General Hospital for a post mortem.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old woman died when the car she was driving hit a gate in Co Kildare this morning.
The incident happened at Crookstown, Ballytore, at around 7.45 a.m. There were no other persons or vehicles involved.
