Gardai are investigating the death of two people on the State's roads overnight.
A 46-year-old woman died in a two-car collision at Gortagheen, Lissycassey, Co Clare at 3.45 a.m. Her name has not been released.
In Galway a man in his early forties died in a hit and run incidnet in Merlin Park. Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at 2.40 a.m. The dead man's name has not been released.
