Two die in road crashes in Kildare and Tyrone

Gardaí at Newbridge are investigating a fatal road collision in which a 19-year-old man died yesterday evening.

The incident happened shortly before 6pm at Blacktrench, Newbridge, Co Kildare, when the car he was driving collided with another car.

The man was taken to Naas General Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Meanwhile, the PSNI are appealing for witnesses to a collision on the Lettergash road near Dromore in Co Tyrone early this morning.

Aidan McLaughlin, 20, from the Dromore area, died when the car he was travelling in hit a tree near the village.

The car was discovered off the Lettergash Road at around 7.45am but police are not sure exactly when the crash happened.

Officers want to speak to anyone who came across the scene, which is near the main Dromore to Irvinestown Road.

Mr McLaughlin is the 12th person to die on Northern Ireland’s roads this year.
