A man and woman died in separate road accidents in Co Galway yesterday. An electrical engineer, Mr Alan Greene (25), of Moneenageesha Court, Galway, died while on his way to work in Athlone shortly before 8 a.m. when his car was in collision with two other vehicles.
The accident occurred near Cappataggle Cross, on the main road between Loughrea and Ballinasloe, at the beginning of one of the most notorious stretches of roadway in Co Galway. The two occupants of the van and the driver of the other car were not seriously injured.
An Offaly woman, Mrs Helena Brazil (34), of Feighs, Banagher, died instantly when the car she was driving hit a wall a mile from Loughrea town shortly after midnight yesterday.
