Two men appeared at a special sitting of Limerick District Court yesterday evening in connection with a £1 million ecstasy find in Co Clare on Tuesday.

Mr Michael Shannon (35), Prospect, Co Limerick, and Mr Brian Hanley (20), Meelick, Co Clare, were charged with possession of drugs for sale or supply.

It was alleged by two gardai, Det Garda Pat Crowley and Det Garda Padraig Clarke, of Henry Street station, that on Tuesday afternoon they found both accused unloading boxes of tiles from a crate in a shed at the rear of the farmhouse.

They said some of the boxes contained ecstasy with an estimated value of £1 million. They also found 5 kg of cannabis with an estimated value of £50,000 in another shed and £17,000 in cash.
