Two men were arrested today by police hunting the attackers who raped and beat a teenage girl in a Belfast park.

The girl, in her late teens, was set upon as she walked home through Woodvale Park just after 5.30pm on Monday.

Police said at the time the girl had been raped by two attackers, kicked in the face and suffered cuts and bruises all over her body. Her ordeal only ended when a passer-by disturbed the attackers, and a man took the girl to a nearby house where the alarm was raised.

Chief Inspector Andrea McMullan said: "This was a brutal, horrendous, vicious and unprovoked attack."
