Tullow Oil announced today that it expects to start testing oil production in Uganda next year.
Brian Glover, country manager, said the company will produce between 5,000 and 10,000 barrels per day by 2012.
Tullow expects to achieve production of 150,000 barrels per day within five years, Mr Glover added in an interview from the capital, Kampala.
Earlier in the week, it was reported Uganda is to get eight barrels for every 10 drilled by the exploration firm under a deal signed by both parties.

Tullow, which has the most licences in Africa, has so far invested $500 million in Uganda.
