A 19-year-old Traveller who was involved in an accident in which a woman and child were injured at Oranmore last Friday was remanded on bail at Galway District Court yesterday.

Mr Anthony McDonagh, of no fixed abode and c/o 191 Rahoon Park, Galway, is charged with dangerous driving and not having insurance at Frenchfort, Oran more. He had been remanded in custody at a special sitting of the court last Saturday. Gardai objected to bail on the grounds that he had no permanent address and would not turn up for trial.

Judge Michael Patwell remanded him on bail on his own surety of £100 and an independent surety of £1,000, which was lodged in court by his mother. He was ordered to sign on daily at Galway Garda station and appear at the court again next Tuesday.
