Italy exited the World Cup at the second-round stage.

They were beaten by South Korea and later threatened a complaint to FIFA after some questionable offside decisions cost them the match.

Trapattoni told Gazzetta Dello Sporthow he felt his side had been unfortunate.

"I believe that I have done a good job," he said.

"Our squad could have gone further."

Trapattoni has vast experience at club level, having held the reins at AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus in Serie A, and German giants Bayern Munich.
