Train services at Heuston restricted

The restrictions are due to the latest phase of the €117 million redevelopment of the station. This morning's 07.20 Heuston to Galway service is to be deferred to 08.05, and passengers are advised to change at Athlone for all stations to Westport.

The 07.45 Galway to Heuston service will terminate at Newbridge, with a bus connection to Heuston.

The 13.15 Westport to Heuston service is to be deferred to 13.35, with a change of trains at Athlone.

The 18.00 Westport to Heuston train has been advanced to 17.00, with a change onto the 18.08 Galway to Heuston train at Athlone. The 16.50 Heuston to Galway train has been advanced to 16.20, with bus transfers between Heuston and Tullamore, and a train from Tullamore to Galway.

The 17.20 Heuston to Limerick/Ennis and 17.30 Heuston to Limerick trains are to be amalgamated to form a 17.30 service from Heuston to Limerick/Ennis.

The 19.15 Cork to Heuston service, the 18.25 Waterford to Heuston train and the 18.08 Galway to Heuston service will all terminate at Newbridge, with bus transfers to Heuston.

All Heuston-Kildare commuter services are cancelled today, as are the following mainline services: the 06.05 Heuston to Portlaoise; 07.38 Portlaoise to Heuston; 16.30 Heuston to Carlow; 18.06 Carlow to Heuston; 08.20 Heuston to Cork; 14.00 Heuston to Limerick; and 17.35 Limerick to Heuston.

All services will operate normally tomorrow.

Work remaining in the redevelopment of Heuston Station includes:

April 2003: commissioning of signalling in Heuston yard; March-July 2003: due to the relaying of track on platforms 4 and 5, both platforms will be closed; July 2003 to February 2004: construction of secondary concourse to serve platforms 6-8.

The further developments at the station, in conjunction with the Kildare route project, are designed to deliver significant service improvements on the Kildare suburban corridor, and on all Intercity routes to and from Heuston.

From tomorrow, the resurfaced and lengthened platforms 1-4 are to be reopened, and the new computerised signalling system is to be fully commissioned.

The extended main concourse area will also open.
