At 1 a.m. an 18-year-old pedestrian died when he was hit by a car on the Dundalk to Newry Road in County Louth.

A motorcyclist was killed when his vehicle struck a tree near Killallon, Kells, County Meath at 1 a.m. The 23-year-old, who has not yet been named, was reported to be a local man.

In Greystones, County Wicklow, a woman in her 50s died after she was struck by a car on the Blacklion to Killincarrig Road just before 10 p.m. yesterday.
