Three people have died in separate road accidents in the North and in Cork. A 52-year-old American tourist was killed in an accident at Macosquin near Coleraine, Co Derry, when the car he was driving collided with an articulated lorry at Dunhill Road around 1 p.m. yesterday. A female front-seat passenger suffered minor injuries, and the driver of the lorry was uninjured.

A man in his 20s died instantly yesterday when his motorcycle went out of control in the Rochestown Road area near Cork city. Gardai believe the motorcycle hit a van and then collided with a car.

Mr Frederick Stewart (50) from Princess Avenue, Cookstown, Co Tyrone, died when the car in which he was travelling was in collision with another vehicle on the Killybearn Road near Cookstown shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday evening.
