Three bailed on car theft charges

Three men, two with Dublin addresses and one from Co Meath, who appeared at a sitting of the District Court in Castleblayney yesterday on charges of stealing a four-wheel-drive vehicle and handling a stolen car, were each released from custody after bail was granted.

Mr Vincent Kelly (24), of Foxborough Glen, Balgaddy, Lucan, was released on a £2,000 surety with a personal bail of £100 when he appeared on remand in custody from a sitting at Ballybay last Saturday on a charge of stealing the vehicle in Dublin on February 18th last.

Mr Darren Dixon (24), from Strand Road, Skerries, who faced a similar charge, had bail of £10,100 set at Ballybay reduced by Judge Flann Brennan to £3,000 at Castleblayney yesterday.

The third accused, Mr Patrick McNally (42), from The Rock, Trim, Co Meath, who faced a charge of handling a car valued at £16,000 between March 19th and April 2nd last knowing it to have been stolen, was also released on a surety of £1,000 with a personal sum in the same amount.

All three were ordered by Judge Brennan to appear at a further sitting of the District Court on October 12th.
