Three arrested after gang hijacks Meath taxi

A taxi driver was threatened with a screw driver and had his taxi stolen in Clonee, Co Meath, this morning.

A Garda spokeswoman said four youths carried out the attack at 6.20 a.m. The taximan was thrown from his car, which was then stolen along with a sum of money.

Three men were later arrested on Bird Avenue, Clonskeagh, after an operation by officers on the ground and the Garda air support unit. A fourth man escaped.

The three are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act in Tallaght Garda station.
