A PROTESTANT couple were forced to leave their home in the Garvaghy Road area of Portadown yesterday after a threat to burn them out.

Their home at Wood side Green is in a mixed local authority estate, near the spot where the RUC clashed with nationalists protesters after Orangemen were allowed to march through on Thursday.

Mrs Wendy Reid said that late on Saturday night, the RUC said there was a threat to burn their house down. Yesterday, they moved their furniture and belongings to relatives' homes in another part of the town.

Ms Reid has lived at Woodside Green for 16 years - since she was intimidated out of her previous home in Garvaghy Park, where she had lived for 14 years.
