Thieves take €50,000 from Cork ATM

Gardaí in Cork are investigating a robbery at a grocery store in which two men made off with the contents of an ATM.

Gardaí in Cork are investigating a robbery at a grocery store in which two men made off with the contents of an ATM.

The robbery took place at 9.40pm on Wednesday night when the manager of a Centra store on the southside of the city was emptying the ATM.

The men got away in a stolen car with €50,000.

Submachine gun seized in Limerick

Gardaí in Limerick have seized a powerful Ingram submachine gun which they fear was destined for use in a long-running violent feud.

The gun was seized when a young driver, believed to be acting as a courier for a criminal gang, was stopped at about 2am yesterday.

The gang is involved in a feud which has claimed four lives in as many years.

The youth is now being questioned.

Roscommon road victim named

A woman who died following a traffic accident on Wednesday has been named as Angela Ryan (29), of Clonakenny, Roscrea, Co Tipperary. The accident happened near Ms Ryan's home in Clonakenny when two cars collided at 8.30pm.
