Dublin's Fishamble company has, since its birth in 1990, been a significant force in the fostering and production of new Irish drama. With director Jim Culleton at the helm, it has launched 13 new plays by native writers, four of whom collected Stewart Parker Trust awards for first-time playwrights. And it has brought its work abroad. Pictured right is one of the actresses, Pauline Hutton. For its Y2K Festival, opening next Wednesday in Tallaght's Civic Theatre, Fishamble has secured six new one-act plays, to be presented in groups of three, with authors ranging from the new to the well-established.

Jennifer Johnston, Gavin Kostick, Gina Moxley, Dermot Bolger, Deirdre Hines and Nick Kelly are the contributors. A tempting line-up.
