Ten in court over death of Swedish man

A case in which 10 people from New Ross face charges in connection with the death of a Swedish man, Mr Lars Eric Magnus Forsmark (30), was adjourned for 24-hours at yesterday's sitting of Wexford Circuit Criminal Court.

Seven of the accused pleaded not guilty to charges of violent disorder and endangerment.

They are Mr Raymond Kelly, Brandon Park; Mr Owen Lennon, Barrack Lane; Ms Sinead Kane, Bosheen; Mr Anthony O'Leary, Bosheen Estate; and brothers, Mr Ian, Mr Stephen and Mr Johnathan Bolger, Nunnery Lane, all in New Ross.

Ms Sinead Kane also pleaded not guilty to a third charge of assisting offenders.

Two more accused, husband and wife, Mr Seán Wickham and Ms Noeleen Wickham, Wickham's Pub, Mary Street, New Ross, pleaded not guilty to endangerment and intent to pervert the course of justice.

Jason Murphy, Bosheen, New Ross, pleaded guilty to affray. He was remanded on continuing bail with his case marked for mention on March 1st.

The incident which led to the death of Mr Forsmark is alleged to have started in Wickham's Pub, in the early hours of Sunday, July 20th, 2003.

The trial of the remaining seven defendants is expected to last four weeks, and will involve 71 witnesses.
