A Galway teenager appeared in Kilrush District Court court today following his extradition from the UK to face a dangerous driving charge in relation to the death of two Kilkee teenagers in 2003.

David Naughton (18) absconded while on bail facing a charge of dangerous driving causing the death of Kilkee neighbours, Stacey Haugh (16) and Lorna Mahoney (13) at Moyarta, Carrigaholt on the 17th of October, 2003.

They were passengers in the vehicle Mr Naughton was driving at the time of the crash. Mr Naughton traveled to the UK in February 2004 and was arrested by British police a year later. Mr Naughton has been in custody in the UK since.

Judge Joseph Mangan remanded Mr Naughton in custody pending the serving of the book of evidence. The case will come before Ennis Circuit Court next October.
